Teachers are the heart and soul of any educational environment. Ms Lark and Ms Patty are the center of our co-op and our children are a product of their passion for preschool education. They always put our children first. Each year, Ms Lark and Ms Patty continue their education by attending early childhood education conferences and keeping abreast of the latest research and teaching techniques. One visit to Lakeside and you will see how our teachers make a difference in the growth and development of our preschoolers.
I love to teach! I taught at a cooperative preschool in Port Angeles, where my eldest daughter attended, and found my love of teaching there. Over the past 10 years I have taught preschoolers in a variety of positions, most of those as a preschool teacher. I have a daughter at Whatcom Middle and a 5th grader at Silver Beach. While my B.S. is in finance all of my certifications and continuing education have been to help me continue to be a good teacher. Play based learning helps preschoolers make huge academic and emotional strides while truly enjoying their year. Intentional play is fun as well as skill-building for your preschooler. Lakeside Cooperative Preschool is a wonderful community built around children and I enjoy being a part of it.
I am excited to be a part of the Lakeside Coop Preschool community teaching the Monday, Wednesday, Thursday morning program. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies from Washington State University and have taught in a number of early childhood education settings for many years. The most recent, at Isom Elementary in the Lynden School District working specifically with kindergarten students. In my classroom, you will find an intentional play based model focusing on the developmental skills necessary for a successful start to kindergarten. I strive to create a safe, child centered program which is always busy, focused and fun. My husband and I have two adult children and live in Lynden. When not in the classroom, I enjoy running and spending time with my youngest “child”, our adorable and enthusiastic dog Lexie!
